Introduction of a City Tax in Dresden

After German cities like Berlin, Cologne or Hamburg, Dresden also introduces a City Tax. The historic city on the River Elbe raises this City Tax on hotel stays of private travellers from 1st July 2015. Additionally to the normal room rate, 6.6% City Tax should finance parts of the city marketing, various cultural institutions and events. With the City Tax in Dresden, more visitors and tourists the city, which is also known as Florence on the Elbe, are lured into the city.
